Sawnee Mountain Hike

I recently went to visit my sister in Cumming, Georgia. One thing that I love about visiting her area is that her backyard faces a forest. There are no fences to barricade it and you can just walk back and get to a trail that takes you on a lovely hike.

This time around we went with my husband and my son, Marcus, as well as my sister and her fiance. We took two hikes, one in the morning ( a short one) and a longer one in the evening. It was my first time going with my son strapped to my chest in a carrier and it made it both interesting and a nice work out. It becomes more of a challenge when there is an extra 17lbs of weight but it was worth it in the end as the views were great and the fresh air delightful.

There’s just something about being in the middle of the woods where the only sounds is the wind, your feet walking on the trail and the birds singing. That’s why I love a good hike because you’ll get the exercise, fresh air and your head will clear and you’ll be more relaxed.

I’m so happy that the weather is getting warmer and that hiking season is in effect. I know that you can hike when it is colder and even in the winter time (which I have done a few times) but it’s so much nicer in the warmer months.

A few days before we went on our hike, we were just relaxing on the deck of the guest house that she has and out of the blue in the distance, we saw three live turkeys walking by! It was a great sight and so unexpected. It’s so rare to see that in Canada unless you are literally in the middle of nowhere and even then you might not see anything. It made me happy for the rest of the day knowing that nature and wildlife was still out there doing its own thing.

Becca Thorpe has uprooted her life and escaped to the beach. Now’s her chance to get away from city living, throw caution to the ocean winds, and live in the moment. Especially if the moment includes the deliciously sexy surfer she meets shortly after arriving in Lucky Harbor. Something about the dark intensity of Sam’s eyes and the thrill she gets at his touch convinces her to stay awhile.

Boatbuilder and investment genius Sam Brody is a self-made man who knows how dangerous it can be to mix business and pleasure. But he can’t resist offering Becca a job just to hear her laugh and have her near. Yet when her brother comes to town asking for help, will he tempt her back to her glamorous life in the city? Or do Sam and little Lucky Harbor have a chance to win Becca’s heart?

Personal Thoughts: I haven’t read all of the books in this series but I will after reading this book. It is so full of great characters, interesting plot line and it just makes you want to keep reading until the end. It was a great read overall and it makes me want to read the rest of the series.

The story takes us to Becca who arrives in Lucky Harbor meant as a pit stop until she finds herself after dealing with her past. What she doesn’t expect is the kindness and the attraction to her newfound boss Sam. Although he shows an intimidating side, inside he is soft as a teddy bear and means no harm. Through a variety of daily interactions things start to get serious between Becca and Sam and that is where the story really takes off.

The author does a great job with the characterizations of the two of them as well as Sam’s partners and the rest of the Lucky Harbor characters. It makes you want to know everyone’s story and where they will end up. Great read and I would recommend it to anyone who wants a light, funny and quick read.
