I recently went to visit my sister in Cumming, Georgia. One thing that I love about visiting her area is that her backyard faces a forest. There are no fences to barricade it and you can just walk back and get to a trail that takes you on a lovely hike.
This time around we went with my husband and my son, Marcus, as well as my sister and her fiance. We took two hikes, one in the morning ( a short one) and a longer one in the evening. It was my first time going with my son strapped to my chest in a carrier and it made it both interesting and a nice work out. It becomes more of a challenge when there is an extra 17lbs of weight but it was worth it in the end as the views were great and the fresh air delightful.
There’s just something about being in the middle of the woods where the only sounds is the wind, your feet walking on the trail and the birds singing. That’s why I love a good hike because you’ll get the exercise, fresh air and your head will clear and you’ll be more relaxed.
I’m so happy that the weather is getting warmer and that hiking season is in effect. I know that you can hike when it is colder and even in the winter time (which I have done a few times) but it’s so much nicer in the warmer months.
A few days before we went on our hike, we were just relaxing on the deck of the guest house that she has and out of the blue in the distance, we saw three live turkeys walking by! It was a great sight and so unexpected. It’s so rare to see that in Canada unless you are literally in the middle of nowhere and even then you might not see anything. It made me happy for the rest of the day knowing that nature and wildlife was still out there doing its own thing.
