Personal Thoughts: I was really looking forward to reading this book and dived in when I finally a chance to read it. Who doesn’t like witches and the unknown? I loved the beautiful cover and all three cover of this series are spectacular! This was quite different from my usual reads. The world was the first thing that grabbed my attention. Another element were the witches and the fact that they cast their spells through song, not the usual wands, potions, etc.
This was a good story for a prequel. Although it was slow paced at times and made you think of other things, it did have its moments. The cultural references and the background surrounding them made it an interesting read. Also, it explained a few things relating to the other two books.
Although this one wasn’t the greatest compared to the other two books, it was a good tie in book. I will be checking out more books by this author. 🙂
